Quick theology thoughts: why is any of this important?

If I don't know you I am more likely to misinterpret your actions then if I do know you. I'm less likely to misinterpret the actions of my husband, who I've had the benefit of getting to know for 12 years, then I am to misinterpret the actions of an acquaintance whom I've just met.

When we don't put importance on getting to know God - through prayer, bible reading and joining in a faith community - we are likely to misinterpret God as either looming dictator or free love hippie who holds no standards.

If we want to truly know who God is, we must make time to actually get to know him.

Quick theology thoughts: diversity

I'm constantly amazed by the endless diversity seen in creation. Flowers, animals, insects all come in a vast variety of shapes and sizes. However, when we look at people we tend to view them as we think they should be and not as God created then to be. Each person was created with a different temperment, different strengths and a different purpose. We might all be a lt happier if we let people process in their own way instead of expecting them to work the way we work.

Everything I own is God's: quick theology thoughts

We live in a culture that amasses stuff. So very much stuff: toys, books, clothes, cars that are traded in for more expensive cars, houses that quickly get filled with every imaginable item.

The thing is I earn the money. I can spend it how I see fit, yes?

If I recognize with Paul that my very existence is dependent on God then I have to admit that so is my ability to work and probably the fact that I have a job at all.

If it's all His then maybe I should focus more on why he has given me this gift, what is his intended purpose, then focus on filling my life with things that I "need."
